Sales Manager to join their team in a full-time, permanent capacity. This is a field-based role covering the Midlands and Scotland, with regular travel across key territories including Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester and Liverpool, alongside the flexibility to work from a home office.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the growth of a specialist product portfolio, developing new business opportunities while nurturing long-standing customer relationships. Your Roles and Responsibilities:While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:
- Developing new business opportunities across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and life sciences sectors to drive continued sales growth
- Managing the full sales cycle, from lead generation and prospect qualification through to quotation, negotiation and order completion
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, distributors, contractors and key industry stakeholders
- Preparing detailed technical and commercial proposals tailored to customer requirements
- Managing tender submissions, collaborating with manufacturers and internal teams to develop competitive technical and commercial solutions
- Following up quotations and customer enquiries, providing timely technical advice and commercial support
- Identifying opportunities to cross-sell complementary products and expand existing customer relationships
- Generating and qualifying new leads through marketing campaigns, referrals and proactive business development activities
- Representing the business at trade exhibitions, industry events and customer demonstrations
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and pipeline reports to support business planning
- Working closely with internal sales support, marketing, finance and technical teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to identify new commercial opportunities
What You Will Need to Apply:The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience selling capital equipment into the scientific, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or laboratory sectors. Experience selling clean air, containment or laboratory equipment would be particularly advantageous.
Applicants should demonstrate a proven ability to generate new business and develop long-term customer relationships, rather than simply managing inbound enquiries. A strong track record of identifying opportunities, winning new customers and consistently achieving sales targets will be essential.
Candidates should possess a good understanding of technical sales processes, including pricing strategies, quotation preparation, tender management and commercial negotiations, with the ability to maximise profitability while delivering value to customers.
A degree in a scientific, engineering or related technical discipline would be highly desirable, alongside the ability to quickly understand complex technologies and confidently engage with scientific, engineering and procurement professionals.
Excellent communication and presentation skills will be essential, together with the confidence to manage challenging customer conversations, negotiate effectively with distributors and compete successfully within a technical marketplace.
The successful individual will be professional, personable and highly self-motivated, with a consultative sales approach and the ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team. They will be an excellent listener with strong commercial awareness, exceptional attention to detail and a genuine passion for developing long-term customer partnerships. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel extensively throughout their territory.
