We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group of Dr Ioannis Kourtzelis to work on the regulation of innate immune responses. The aim of our research is to identify macrophage - mediated mechanisms shaping health and disease.

The Hull York Medical School (ranked 10 in the UK), the associated Department of Biology and York Biomedical Research Institute are recognised world leaders in biomedical research. You will join a vibrant environment of scientific researchers who are dedicated to tackling these important problems in global health. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where staff and students can thrive, contribute their best, and achieve their full potential. We take great pride in holding the Athena Swan Gold Award.

Role

This position will be based at York. Anticipated start date for this position is March-April 2027. The end date for the current phase of funding is 31 May 2030. The aim of this project is to characterise the effects of ‘sustained innate immunoprophylactics’ (SIIPs) that are based on engineered lipid nanoparticlestargeting lung - mediated immune regulation.

You will be a postdoctoral-level researcher with interests in the macrophage - mediated mechanisms of immune regulation. Specifically, the post-holder will be expected to lead the project in relation to animal studies and interact with other partners within an ARIA-funded consortium.
