Process Project Engineer – Moulding / Manufacturing

Role

Exciting new role with our client a multinational Medical Device and Healthcare products provider. NIRAS is actively recruiting for an energetic and hands-on Manufacturing/Project Engineer to lead a key project within our Client’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering & Process Development Team.

You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D and Sustaining departments in the development and delivery of new process layouts, innovative automation solutions, improvement of lean processes necessary to produce components for an advanced medical device product.

You will have proven problem solving, supervisory, technical ability, be approachable and able to build teams and collaborate with multi discipline teams with ease. You will be curious and questioning and establish risks and pitfalls to ensure surprises are minimized. You are an effective and able communicator, working at all levels of the organisation and comfortable with presenting to senior management. You will be energised by tough challenges and persevere to achieve the final result yet are objective and escalate issues early.

Duties

Design arrangement of moulding machines within plant facilities to ensure efficient and productive layouts

Develop Moulding Manufacturing Processes applicable to SPC and may develop these techniques further.

Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Design procedures, manufacturing processes and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, manufacturing and material handling.

Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment.

Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency, investigate and initiate CAPAs to ensure product quality.

Implement statistical process control, OEE and process efficiency measurement and improvement tools.

Ensures process and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Experience Requirements

Knowledge of processes associated with Medical Device Manufacturing such as adhesive and Thermal Bonding, RF welding, tip melting, etc. Injection/ Blow Moulding experience is a distinct advantage.

Extrusion, Blow Moulding or Injection Moulding, Automation and robotics.

Level 8 or higher qualification in Mechanical, Polymer, Biomedical or related Engineering /Science discipline with good Hands-On working knowledge

Requires broad knowledge of Manufacturing Processes and Systems, techniques and practices.

Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Medtech / Pharma / Plastics processing environments.

A Project Management qualification and experience would be advantageous.

Knowledge of materials associated with Medical Devices such as Polymers (Nylon, PVC, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Pebax, PTFE, Polycarbonate, etc.).

Application of statistical and analytical methods such as SPC, SQC, and DOE.

Experienced in working with DFA (Design for Automation), Lean Sigma, Analytical packages incl. Minitab.

Development of manufacturing documentation (MP, IP, BOM, CDP, IQ, OQ, PQ).

Leading project teams tasked with process improvements, Material Changes, Automation, Validation, CAPA, continuous improvement activities, training and varied manufacturing engineering activities.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Successful track record in delivering projects through application of sound Project Management techniques.
