Position: Specification & Procurement Engineer

Location: Bishops Stortford

Specification & Procurement Engineer required. Our client is a well-established manufacturer of process equipment based in the Bishops Stortford area. Due to ongoing success, they are seeking an experienced Specification & Procurement Engineer to join their procurement department.

This role involves developing detailed technical specifications for mechanical, pneumatic, and instrumentation equipment, as well as procuring and inspecting these components for use in the manufacture of high-quality, critical automated processing systems for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research sectors.

Specification & Procurement Engineer Position Overview

  • The detailed specification and procurement of all mechanical, pneumatic and instrumentation equipment and components used in collaboration with design engineers and project management.
  • Careful review of the project requirements.
  • Developing firm technical plans, designs and specifications.
  • Producing technical documents as required on projects.
  • The issuing of drawings, specifications and other documents to suppliers for quoting and/or purchase;
  • Ensuring all items required for a project are ordered and delivered on time.
  • Negotiating with suppliers regarding price and delivery.
  • Placing of purchase orders, including managing all aspects of the order process, communication with suppliers, checking and approving invoicing, as required, order acknowledgements, chasing deliveries and managing import/export requirements.
  • Monitoring factory stock levels and replenishment as required in line with agreed minimum levels.

Specification & Procurement Engineer Position Requirements

  • Proven background working within specifications and procurement
  • Experience within the Engineering / Manufacturing industries
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Teams & Powerpoint.
  • Based in a commutable distance of Bishops Stortford
  • Ability to work under pressure and always maintain professionalism.

  • Competitive Salary
  • Monday to Friday, full-time, permanent position.
  • Holiday allowance and pension
