MRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Functional Gene Control group (PI: Dr Mikhail Spivakov)

Salary: £41,344 plus London allowances (£5,385) per annum

(3 Year fixed term)

London, UK

Applications are invited for a 3-year post-doctoral research position at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) at Imperial College London (http://lms.mrc.ac.uk/).

We combine wet-lab and computational approaches to study how enhancers, enhancer-promoter contacts and cis-regulatory networks mediate the effects of disease-linked genetic variants and extracellular signals on gene expression.

We are looking for a creative, self-motivated and collaborative postdoctoral scientist with either a wet-lab and/or computational background.

For a computational scientist, we expect sound experience of applying, and ideally developing, advanced statistical and AI approaches to epigenomics data arising from single-cell and bulk assays, and a confident knowledge of genomics data manipulation in R/python.

For a wet-lab scientist, we expect strong experience in applying and troubleshooting high-throughput epigenomics and/or CRISPR targeting (activation/interference) assays in application to mammalian stem or immune cells, and ideally a track record of successful methodology development. Some computational experience in genomic data analysis is desirable.

The ideal candidates will have the willingness and track record to apply for personal postdoctoral fellowships in the first year of their stay with us.

Functional Gene Control group led by Dr Mikhail Spivakov is a friendly, close-knit and enthusiastic interdisciplinary team based in the Epigenetics section of MRC LMS. For more information, see the group’s websites athttp://functionalgenecontrol.group/andhttps://lms.mrc.ac.uk/research-group/functional-gene-control/.

Keywords: regulatory genomics, enhancers, CRISPR perturbation assays, chromosomal conformation analysis, machine learning, gene regulation.

The post is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly attractive benefits package including a competitive salary, excellent holiday entitlement, and a generous pension scheme.
