Lab Technician

Location: Folkestone

Pay: £14.52 per hour

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (6:00am - 6:00pm) inclusive of weekends

The Role

Working for an innovative and thriving manufacturing company in Folkestone, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for carrying out routine and non-routine testing of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with required quality standards. Working within a regulated manufacturing environment, the role ensures all testing activities are completed in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), internal procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Perform analytical testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with specification prior to release for production and distribution.

Conduct testing of regulated products, including medical devices, in accordance with defined quality and compliance requirements.

Maintain a strong quality mindset within the laboratory environment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to GMP, ISO standards, and internal systems.

Ensure all testing activities, results, and documentation are accurately recorded and maintained in line with company and regulatory expectations.

Work independently to complete daily tasks assigned by supervisory staff while meeting required timelines.

Support the validation and verification of new analytical methods and laboratory procedures.

Identify and escalate out-of-specification (OOS) results promptly and contribute to investigations to determine root causes.

Maintain laboratory housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles and internal audit requirements.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D and Technical Services, to support new product introductions and ongoing product support.

Manage retention sample programmes and ensure samples are correctly stored and tracked.

Carry out stability testing in line with established programmes to ensure ongoing product quality over time.

Support the review, update, and implementation of laboratory procedures and test methods within required timeframes.

Assist in training laboratory personnel on procedures, equipment, and analytical techniques.

Undertake additional duties as required to support laboratory operations.Requirements

Previous experience in a Quality Control or laboratory environment within a manufacturing or FMCG setting is advantageous.

A qualification in an analytical or scientific discipline is desirable but not essential.

Understanding of GMP principles and ISO standards (including ISO 13485) is beneficial.

Strong organisational, communication, and planning skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively under tight deadlines.

Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new processes and techniques.Health & Safety

Report any accidents, near misses, or hazards in accordance with site procedures.
