Job Description

About This Role

Joining us as Head of Customer and Market Insights (CMI) UK&I, you will be responsible for developing the affiliate CMI strategy and leading the CMI affiliate team to drive performance as a trusted partner to the business. CMI can accelerate business performance through helping the business to ‘understand today’ i.e. the current situation in the therapy areas/markets in which we operate and through use of insights to ‘predict tomorrow.’

As Head of CMI, your scope of activity will include (but not limited to): performance reporting, data driven insights generation (from market research/competitive intelligence etc), accurate forecasting (in close alignment with the Finance & business operations functions), and leadership of strategic projects. These activities help to secure focus in business execution& development. As Head of CMI, you will be a key decision support partner for critical business decisions by ensuring business leaders have the correct data, analysis and business case content to make data driven decisions. This role is also an important link to our regional and global teams and a key member of the Customer Excellence and Operations (CE&O) leadership team.

This is a hybrid role, based out of the Biogen offices in Maidenhead.

What You’ll Do

  • CMI Team leadership and management of direct reports in the CMI team
  • Forecasting (Patient/market): Lead the forecasting and planning process for the Affiliate as per the defined process from Region Europe. This includes a major annual forecast and adjustment at regular intervals as the external markets evolve.
  • Market Research (leveraging primary and secondary data) and Competitive Intelligence: Responsible for patient and market share calculations.
  • Analytics: Provide insights, analytics and performance narrative to support local brand teams and affiliate leadership with critical decision-making strategy.
  • Translate data/insights into short/mid-term forecasting of business performance/expectations. Ensure business decisions are based on data/fact-based analysis.
  • Drive innovation in analytics and business execution to become leaner, aligned and have impact on the business performance & Investment Strategy.
  • Responsible for UK and Ireland supply demand planning (Demantra) and Stock Management Scheme (SMS) liaising with local teams and EU+. Lead the UK VPAG quarterly/annual returns.

Who You Are

You are a seasoned leader with experience heading a Customer & Market Insights (CMI) function, including leading and managing teams, delivering accurate forecasts, and guiding key business decisions. With a strong background in pharma/biotech, you bring commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Adept at engaging senior stakeholders, you navigate ambiguity with a calm, diplomatic approach. Your expertise in forecasting, Excel modelling, and market analysis ensures data-driven decision-making that drives business success.

Required Skills

  • BA/BSc Required. MBA a plus.
  • Strong and proven background and experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Experience & proven track record driving a customer and market insights related function.
  • Proven track record of driving change management internally.
  • Proven record of leading and developing people.
  • Advanced analytical & strategic skills.
  • Proven track record operating in a highly competitive marketplace.
  • Experience influencing without authority within a matrix organisation.
  • Thrive on challenge and will be highly collaborative, perceptive, an analytical problem solver, and exhibit strategic and innovative agility.
  • An individual who manifests trust, and is known for ethics and integrity, and works successfully in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong personal presence.
