The Francis Crick have an exciting opportunity available for a Workday Enterprise Systems Developer to join one of the world’s leading research Institutes at a crucial time in its evolution, and play a definitive role in shaping it for the future. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £51,591 - £58,470 per annum.

The Workday Enterprise Systems Developer role:

We are looking for an experienced Workday Developer to join the Crick and perform technical development, health, and integration for our Workday platform, ensuring ongoing sustained value and ROI. You will be responsible for creating and demonstrating robust practices such as coding standards, testing, and QA.

You will be working with various members of the IT team, such as senior developers and managers, to support the creation, configuration,n and optimisation of Workday modules, as well as developing and following strong development practices such as coding and testing standards, processes, and documentation.

Collaboration is key at the Crick and within this role, you will be working closely with the People and Finance teams and many other teams across the institute.

You will play a key role within the IT operations team and will be joining a team of enterprise systems colleagues working across functions to manage and enhance how Workday supports organisational processes and customer experience for colleagues.

What you will be doing… 

As a Workday Developer at the Crick, you will:

Deliver agile sprints on time in Workday, meeting requirements in line with business objectives. Deliver on requests from Projects and BAU. Demonstrate strong Workday expertise and knowledge, including experience using AI to automate and improve process

Configure and optimise Workday modules. Work with Senior Developer / Manager to support the creation of detailed designs, definition of technical specifications, and development and execution of delivery plans.

Raise risks and ensure owned risks are tracked and mitigated, using robust processes and technologies.

Perform integration design and maintenance, including APIs, EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio integrations with other enterprise systems (e.g. payroll, learning, procurement, Microsoft 365). Deliver seamless data flow and process automation.

Support the senior developer to manage Workday system health and monitor usage to ensure that Workday runs efficiently and securely. Support reporting on this.

Assist the Senior Developer to monitor the overall compliance of Workday and its applications

Resolve/ support resolution of BAU technical Workday-related issues. Troubleshoot problems and resolve them promptly.

About you

As our Workday Enterprise Systems Developer, you will bring:

Hands-on Workday development and configuration experience in at least one module (e.g., HCM, Core HR, Financials, Absence, Security, Integrations).

Experience developing AI and automation

Foundational understanding of business processes in HR and/or Finance, and how Workday enables them. Good understanding of Workday process flows, condition rules, and event triggers.

Good experience in system integration. Experience in platform development and change delivery related to enterprise systems. Understanding of large-scale data uploads and complex data validation processes. Workday integrations: Proficiency with EIBs, Core Connectors, Workday Web Services (WWS). API & Web Services: Understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, and XML for integration work.

Workday Security Model: experience performing/supporting domain management, security groups, and role-based access controls (specifically relevant to security integration and authentication policies)

(Desirable) experience with calculated fields, custom reports, and dashboards.
