Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for anUtility Operatoron behalf of a global CDMO organization.


Role Purpose:

The Utility Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of black and clean utility systems in a chemical batch manufacturing facility producing drug substances under GMP conditions. This role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining utility systems critical to manufacturing operations, including water systems, HVAC, steam, compressed air, and other utilities.


The Utility Operator collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering, to ensure uninterrupted operations and adherence to GMP standards.



Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate and monitor black utilities (e.g., steam boilers, compressed air systems, cooling towers) and clean utilities (e.g., purified water, HVAC systems) to support GMP-compliant manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor system parameters (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow rates) using control systems and instrumentation to maintain operational specifications.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on utility systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with GMP standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with utility systems, escalating complex problems to maintenance or engineering teams as needed.
  • Ensure all utility operations and maintenance activities comply with GMP regulations, including proper documentation, cleaning, and sanitization of clean utility systems.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to address operational issues, schedule maintenance, and ensure utility systems meet production demands.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures


Key Requirements:

  • Training in GMP, water system operations, or safety standards (e.g., OSHA, LOTO).
  • 2+ years of experience operating utility systems in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and operational manuals.
  • Knowledge of utility system operations, including boilers, chillers, water treatment systems, and control systems
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
