The Global Medical Senior Director Respiratory & Gastroenterology, Pipeline Indications will play a crucial role in Sanofi's Immunology pipeline, focusing on new drug indications for Sanofi across Respiratory and Gastroenterology. Reporting directly to the Global Medical Head of Respiratory and Gastroenterology, this role will take a leadership position in cross-functional project teams alongside commercial and Market Access and serve as a strategic partner at a Disease Area and Core Project Team level.

This position requires a matrix team leader who takes a hands-on approach. Successful collaboration across cross-functional stakeholders is essential for this role, necessitating excellent communication skills and comfort working with non-co-located colleagues.

Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute integrated medical plans for new drug indications in Respiratory and Gastroenterology.

Lead cross-functional teams in the clinical evaluation of pre-clinical assets and BD opportunities in the relevant disease areas.

Drive lifecycle management activities for mid and late-stage assets exploring new disease areas in Respiratory and Gastroenterology.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to foster understanding of the evolving treatment landscape in the relevant disease areas across Respiratory and Gastroenterology.

Collaborate with Global Project Heads, New Product Planning leads, Market Access, and HEVA partners to ensure alignment of medical strategies with overall business objectives.

Oversee the development of KOL engagement plans, medical education programs, and emerging leaders' initiatives in the relevant disease areas.

Evidence Generation and Data Analysis

Lead Integrated Evidence generation efforts in collaboration with the medical evidence generation team including the design of medical-led studies

Evaluate the therapeutic landscape using Real-World Data to identify areas of high unmet need and underserved patient populations.

Support the design and execution of observational, database, and phase IV clinical studies.

Clinical Evaluation and Business Development

Lead the clinical evaluation of pre-clinical assets in Respiratory and Gastroenterology.

Provide medical expertise in the assessment of potential acquisitions and licensing opportunities.

Medical Affairs Excellence

Ensure compliance with established corporate and industry guidelines.

Contribute to the development of best practices in medical affairs within the immunology team.

Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

About You

Qualifications

Advanced degree in a scientific discipline (M.D., Ph.D., or PharmD)

Significant experience in immunology, with a focus on Respiratory and/or Gastroenterology preferred

8+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong background in clinical development and/or medical affairs at a global or regional level

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment

Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Proven leadership and management skills in overseeing cross-functional teams in a global context.

Strategic thinking and proven ability to drive innovation

Preferred Skills:

Experience in both clinical research and patient care

Experience with successful asset launches

Experience in the US Market

Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration

Familiarity with global regulatory environments and requirements

Experience in lifecycle management and launch readiness activities
