Job Description

The MSL role is non promotional and  will work as part of the medical affairs team. They will work closely with Key External Experts (KEE’s) and Healthcare professionals (HCP’s)  as well as internal colleagues e.g., Sales, Marketing, Market Access, GMA.

 

Responsible for field based medical activities carried out in the defined geography. A professional expert who will build trust and add value to KEE’s  for Santen through high quality interactions. Interactions will be both reactive (in response to customer requests for information on our products) and proactive  Interactions will meet the highest standard of scientific and interpersonal expertise and act in accordance with applicable guidelines.

 

What you will do:



    •    Build and execute regional KEE engagement plans in collaboration with the Medical Manager and other MSLs across all Santen ophthalmology therapy areas.

    •    Drive high-quality scientific discussions, both reactively and proactively, ensuring medical information provided is timely, accurate, and compliant.

    •    Lead educational and scientific initiatives with KEE’s that contribute to improved patient outcomes and knowledge sharing.

    •    Identify and engage with KEE’s for participation in advisory boards, speaker programs, clinical trials, and other scientific activities.

    •    Facilitate and evaluate Investigator Sponsored Study (ISS) proposals in alignment with Santen procedures.

    •    Collaborate on local or national publications and medical projects that support Santen’s strategy.

    •    Provide scientific training and support to internal teams (e.g., sales, marketing), ensuring consistent, medically accurate messaging.

    •    Stay up to date with the latest scientific literature and ensure compliance with ABPI Code and all relevant regulations during field activities and events.


Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

You are an experienced, scientifically driven professional with strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape. You will bring:



    •    A scientific degree (minimum MSc; PhD preferred) in a relevant life science or medical field.

    •    1 year of experience (desirable, not mandatory) as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

    •    Preferably, experience in ophthalmology or other hospital-based specialty medicines.

    •    Excellent ability to distill and communicate complex scientific information to varied audiences.

    •    Strong presentation and teaching skills, with solid written and verbal communication capabilities.

    •    Proven capability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    •    A proactive, independent working style with creative problem-solving and strategic thinking.

    •    Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively within the assigned geography (100% customer-facing role).
