Recent Chemistry graduate with experience as a Buyer or Purchaser in a manufacturing organisation required to lead a purchasing process optimisation project for a leading speciality chemical manufacturer with sites in Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.

Title: Technical Purchaser

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)

Term: Permanent

SRG are working with a well-respected, global company who specialise in the creation of speciality chemicals for several different markets. Currently undergoing an exciting growth journey, they are now looking for a Technical Purchaser to join the Supply Chain team, ideally at their site in Greater Manchester (but regular travel to their site near Halifax will also be required). This is an exciting opportunity to own and lead a purchasing process optimisation project within the business!

Role / Description

Leading a purchasing process optimisation project internally
Understanding the current purchasing and stock management processes
Identifying areas for improvement to increase efficiencies
Using the internal ERP (Sage ERP), and utilising the system to its full potential
Managing the full procurement process for a range of speciality chemicals
Negotiating contracts with suppliers
Creating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the suppliers
Liaising with multiple departments in the business including Supply Chain and Operations
Attending trade shows and networking events to keep abreast of industry trends.Requirements

Recent degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related subject
Proven recent experience as a Purchaser in a chemical manufacturer
Able to be on site across all sites (Manchester and West Yorkshire) 3 days a week
A proactive approach and drive to deliver exceptional service
Willing and excited to implement positive change and process improvements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
