Job Description

CDM Life Science are recruiting on behalf of a cutting-edge biotechnology company focused on advancing drug discovery and development through innovative synthetic chemistry. We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated Synthetic Chemist to join a dynamic research team and contribute to groundbreaking drug development efforts.

Job Summary:

As a Synthetic Chemist, you will be at the forefront of designing and synthesizing novel compounds with the potential to become transformative drugs. Collaborating with our multidisciplinary team of scientists, you will play a key role in advancing drug discovery programs and accelerating the development of new therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Synthesis: Plan, design, and execute multi-step synthetic routes for the preparation of target molecules. Employ state-of-the-art techniques to synthesize small molecules and intermediates.

Medicinal Chemistry: Contribute to medicinal chemistry efforts by designing compounds with optimized pharmacological properties and drug-like characteristics.

Analytical Characterization: Perform analytical characterization of synthesized compounds using various spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, etc.).

Data Analysis: Analyse and interpret data to evaluate compound purity, yield, and other critical parameters. Utilize data to drive decision-making in compound design and synthesis.

Literature Review: Stay current with the latest scientific literature and advancements in synthetic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Integrate knowledge into project planning and execution.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists, to support drug discovery programs.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related discipline. Master’s degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry gained through academic research or industry experience.
Synthetic Techniques: Proficiency in a wide range of synthetic techniques, including modern methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data from various analytical instruments.
Innovative Thinking: Creative and innovative mindset, with a passion for exploring new synthetic approaches and solving complex challenges.
Team Player: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills to present findings and contribute to team discussions.
