Job Summary
The Senior Pharmacist is responsible for processing medication orders entered by prescribers, providing medications promptly and accurately, and supplying relevant information to healthcare workers and patients for safe medication use. The role includes representing the Pharmacy on key programs, acting as a liaison, serving on committees, recommending policies, and reviewing drug and supply requirements.

Coordinate daily workload according to department needs

Check medication fills (Cassette, Omnicells, Floor Stock, etc.)

Prepare and process IV Admixtures

Process prescriber medication orders

Provide drug consultations to healthcare personnel and patients

Detect and document adverse drug events, reactions, medication errors, and near misses

Perform and document target drug interventions

Maintain record keeping

Provide training/in-service education to Pharmacy staff and other healthcare personnel

Ensure drug security and control throughout the day

Complete assigned medication inventory tasks

Perform additional duties as requested by Pharmacy leadership

Qualifications

Adherence to C.A.R.E. Standards

Ability to communicate clearly with healthcare personnel

Understanding of pharmacy operations, including medication order processing, Omnicell systems, Epic, and other pharmacy technologies

Sufficient pharmaceutical knowledge for safe medication distribution

Baccalaureate or higher degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school

Current Massachusetts Pharmacist license with no disciplinary actions

Hospital pharmacy experience required
