As aBiochemistry Team Supervisorat IDEXX, you will be a key contributor to one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets across the UK, and perform a team lead role with several direct reports. Blood Science department consist of Biochemistry, Haematology and Serology sections, with approximately 30 staff and is located within a bright and spacious open-plan laboratory. Other disciplines on site include Microbiology, Histology and Cytology.

In this Role:

You will be line manager to a team of direct reports, taking responsibility for their performance, engagement, and development. Your day-to-day will include supervising and organizing the laboratory, staff, and workflow. You will problem-solve every day, from trouble-shooting diagnostic analyzers to resolving situational workflow and turnaround time challenges. You will contribute to process improvements, Lean initiatives, and maintaining UKAS ISO accreditation for the lab You will communicate with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed

 What You Will Need to Succeed:

To be successful in this role, you’ll have practical experience working within a laboratory, preferably with sound theoretical knowledge to accompany your technical skills, a minimum of 5 years’ experience is preferable. You have proven record of successfully leading, building and mentoring a team. You can lead and encourage staff progression, drive staff engagement, assist with change management and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. You have knowledge of human clinical or veterinary testing and procedures. You will have a BSc in Biochemistry or equivalent. You are flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced, high volume, innovative work environment. You are a go-getter, a hard worker, and someone with a passion for science, innovation, and the opportunity to work on behalf of global pet health.

Schedule: 

Lab operates Monday to Saturday, 6am- 5:30pm mon-fri, 7am-3:30pm sat, with staff rotating start times and working days. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
