We are pleased to help recruit an experienced Specialist Doctor in Medical Microbiology for our NHS Client based in West Scotland. This is a fixed-term 24-month role (supporting the CESR/portfolio pathway) working alongside a dedicated, highly skilled microbiology team. You will join three established Consultant Microbiologists with specialist interests in antimicrobial stewardship, orthopaedic infection, and S. aureus bacteraemia, plus a strong multidisciplinary laboratory team.
The Microbiology Department processes over 245,000 samples annually, is UKAS accredited , and has invested heavily in automation and molecular diagnostics (BioMérieux Vitek 2, Bruker MALDI-TOF, Abbott Alinity, Cepheid GeneXpert, Seegene Starlet)
The post offers a mix of clinical liaison, multidisciplinary team meetings, infection prevention and control, and specialist ward rounds (including ITU, orthopaedics, renal HDU, and S. aureus bacteraemia).

Medical Microbiology
Contract: Fixed-term 24 months, 10 PAs (9 DCC / 1 SPA)
On-call: 1:4 rota with availability supplement and time in lieu (remote access supported)
Visa sponsorship: Available for eligible international applicants under the Health and Care Worker visa route

Deliver a high-quality microbiology and virology service
Support laboratory operations, SOPs, quality assurance, and UKAS accreditation
Significant experience in clinical microbiology (UK or equivalent)
