About the Role

Are you a time-served, hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a passion for maintaining critical systems and ensuring operational excellence? We are a leading UK manufacturer of high-quality added value sweet bakery products, and we're looking for a skilled engineer to join our team.

As a Mechanical Bias Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising a wide range of factory services and production systems. You'll support both planned and reactive maintenance, participate in engineering projects, and play a key role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

Ensure all health & safety standards are met, including adherence to Safe Systems of Work.
Maintain and repair a wide range of plant equipment including boilers, autoclaves, cooling towers, lifts, compressed air and domestic water systems.
Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
Complete preventative maintenance and support project-based work.
Accurately complete engineering paperwork including PPM sheets and work records.
Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to share updates and information.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with food safety standards.
Support the commissioning and integration of new equipment and systems.
Ensure compliance with legislation such as Legionella L8, LOLER, and Pressure Systems Regulations.
Clear and consistent communication with supervisors and teams.
Effective involvement in engineering projects and equipment commissioning.

Skills & Experience Required

Time-served in a factory services environment or similar background.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
BOAS certification (or equivalent) preferred.
Experience with steam systems, compressed air, pipe fitting, and water treatment.
Basic plumbing skills and understanding of Legionella control.

Shift Pattern

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
