If you’re a vet who enjoys focused consulting work or someone who thrives in a referral setting, they would love to support your career in the direction that inspires you most.
You’ll be working alongside an exceptional nursing team, many of whom are pursuing or have completed further qualifications in anaesthesia, medical nursing, surgical nursing, and more. Together, they manage a wide range of cases including transfers for imaging, internal medicine, cardiology, and surgery, as well as high-quality first opinion care.
The hospital is equipped with advanced facilities, including a CT scanner, visiting MRI, endoscopy (rigid and flexible), digital and dental radiography, and a top-tier ultrasound scanner purchased in 2022. They also offer multiparameter monitoring, tonometry, electrocautery, hydrotherapy, and an extensive in-house lab suite. This includes haematology, biochemistry, lactate monitoring, blood gas and clotting analysis, an in-house microscope, and an Imagyst diagnostic system for rapid specialist analysis of cytology and faecal samples.
Located in the historic market town of Shrewsbury, the hospital sits within easy reach of beautiful countryside and is under two hours from the Welsh coast. Many vets who move there find themselves happily settling in for the long term, drawn by the area’s charm and lifestyle.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over four days, with just one in six weekends. Bank Holiday duties are shared evenly across the region’s veterinary team, typically amounting to only one shift (or fewer) per year.
They have a comprehensive benefits package, including private medical insurance, a health cash plan, and 24/7 private GP and counselling services. You’ll receive five weeks of annual leave plus Bank Holidays (rising to six with service), as well as an additional paid ‘Day for You’ each year. They also provide a £1,500 CPD allowance with three paid CPD days, internal learning opportunities, and funded certificate pathways. Your professional memberships including VDS, RCVS, and BVA are fully covered.
Additional benefits include sabbaticals based on length of service, interest-free season ticket loans, a Cycle to Work scheme, and exclusive staff discounts. If you're relocating or require sponsorship, they can also offer full support with Tier 2 visa sponsorship and relocation assistance.
