Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company to recruit a Shift Operations Technician for their Energy from Waste Power Station near Bicester, Oxfordshire

The Shift Operations Technician role comes with starting salary of c.£42,000 + c.£6,000 shift allowance + location living allowance of £2,654 + up to 10% bonus + overtime + private medical + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

Using a DCS system, you will be required to start, stop and monitor the steam turbine, steam boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and more
Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures
Performing plant walk round and daily checks to ensure equipment is operating correctly and efficiently
Monitoring of continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) and perform corrective adjustments to the process when required
Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff
Working within the company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC/ONC/NVQ in an engineering discipline is desirable
Having authorised person / senior authorised person qualifications will be advantageous
A health and safety qualification will be advantageous but not a necessity

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Shift Operations Technician role would suit someone who has:

Operations / Maintenance experience gained within a heavy process engineering environment such as power generation, paper mills, COMAH sites, steel works, cement, pharmaceutical, etc.
Experience in operating a DCS/SCADA system
Familiar with safety rules procedures
Ex forces engineer will be highly encouraged to apply whether this be Navy, RAF or Army

Salary and benefits of the Shift Operations Technician role

A guaranteed remuneration of c.£50,000 (inclusive of shift and location living allowances)
Overtime
Bonus of up to 10%
Private medical
