Brief Description:

The Senior Scientist will provide a comprehensive range of scientific analytical support to Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) projects. This role involves assisting or leading the planning, execution, and reporting of project-related work, with a primary focus on delivering analytical support to the global MS&T function. Key responsibilities include providing analytical support for existing Jazz commercial products, conducting analytical investigations (including unknown impurities analysis), improving and developing test methods, assessing, developing, transferring, validating, and troubleshooting analytical methods, enhancing product and process robustness, analyzing cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid components in plant materials, and providing analytical support to Jazz R&D discovery and Jazz Pharmaceutical development teams as needed.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced analytical support to the MS&T analytical team using a variety of techniques as required.
  • Support analytical investigations for all existing Jazz commercial products using various advanced analytical techniques within the laboratory.
  • Improve existing analytical methods and develop new methods to support test method life cycle management.
  • Present work to the team and write comprehensive scientific reports as required.
  • Review and check completed ARFs and any other project data.
  • Ensure analytical equipment is fully calibrated and serviced in accordance with company protocols and procedures. Support qualification and maintenance of the analytical facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain cGXP and H&S knowledge applicable to the job.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of all relevant cGxP documents.
  • Keep abreast of industry guidelines and any relevant updates

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrate competency and innovation on a range of complex laboratory skills and equipment. Extensive practical knowledge of multiple advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, ICP-MS, and pharmacopeial methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Empower and preferably other related chromatography software systems such as MassLynx, Lab Solutions and Waters Connect.
  • Excellent attention to detail, including checking analytical data, authoring, and reviewing SOPs, Test Methods, Protocols, and Reports.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and presentational, for designing and executing various developmental protocols and reports, and presenting work at cross-functional meetings.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Initiative in working on individual projects, including background research.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and departments.
  • Set an example to colleagues by ensuring a good work ethic and continually sharing knowledge and experience.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Scientific-based degree with a minimum of three years of laboratory experience.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and applying new analytical techniques.
