Discover Impactful Work:

The post holder will be responsible for:

Assessing all technical and practical aspects of existing purification strategies and driving process improvements throughout the manufacturing teams to improve the quality and efficiency of product manufacture. Critically analyse production equipment and drive improvements to equipment selection and process design to maximise manufacturing performance. To participate in process development and transfer into manufacturing to maximise manufacturing performance.

A Day in the Life:

Lead the investigation, assessment and review of current purification manufacturing strategies. Lead process data collection, analysis and interpretation. Autonomy to Drive process improvements to yield and process performance in the current supply of intermediate protein reagents, focusing where required on alternative strategies and solutions to existing challenges Lead the assessment of current equipment capabilities, driving improvements in technology to align with best-in-class industry standards. Developing and leveraging expertise across the organization – instrumental in developing future manufacturing strategies to manufacture best in class biological reagents. Assessment of new product introduction to ensure best industry practice is in use. Assessment of non-conformance and CAPA to ensure best in class resolution of processing challenges.

Keys To Success:

Education

Degree in Biochemistry or equivalent scientific subject and/or higher degree in protein / immunoglobulin purification based research.

Experience

Candidate must have significant experience in protein purification techniques, with an expectation of at least 10 years’ experience at large laboratory / pilot scale manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to lead Projects either through experience or recognised project management training.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of modern chromatography techniques, strategies and equipment Demonstrated knowledge of protein biochemistry to drive process improvements. Thorough understanding of concentration / diafiltration techniques and equipment Experience of liaising with Key industry suppliers of purification technology Detailed understanding of purification process and equipment validation Project management
 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The role will include a mix of office based work and some physical laboratory and pilot scale manufacturing activity
