Job Description

THE POSITION:

  • To provide biostatistical support and leadership on a wide range of projects (ie, health economics/modelling, evidence synthesis, trial analysis, real world data, and/or value communications).

This role can be based remote in one of the following locations: The UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Italy or Germany.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. For this role:

  • Leading a range of biostatistics projects related to HEOR including one or more of the following: indirect comparisons (e.g., NMA, MAIC), propensity score matching (PSM) studies, real-world evidence (RWE) and/or clinical trial individual patient data (IPD) analyses, simulation studies, feasibility assessments, Bayesian statistical, and/or other related HTA statistical approaches
  • Strong subject matter expertiseacrossstatistical project types
  • Lead company thought leadership activities on innovative HEOR statistical methods and biostatistical training for the team
  • Lead, advise and/or support on execution on statistical aspects of projects, including coding, interpretation, and written communications, for one or more of the following:
    • Protocols, statistical analysis plans, statistical analyses,technical reports, case report forms (CRFs), statistical analyses, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, presentations and other report types
  • Support review and QA activities related to client deliverables
  • Generate analysis datasets, tables, figures, and listings to support trial re-analysis
  • Lead strategic insights on methods designed to answer various types of client questions
  • Implement quality control activities related to statistical projects
  • Effectively communicate statistical methods and results in lay terms
  • Lead and/or support client calls as subject matter experts
  • Oversee or coordinate data transfers with clients to ensure compliance with SOPs and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinate between statisticians and IT to identify and escalate technical issues relevant to statistical analysis platform, including RStudio Workbench and BitBucket
  • Higher utilization targets relative to managerial biostatistics stream
  • Support and/or lead company strategic initiatives for technical or statistics offerings
  • Stay updated in the latest innovative statistical methods
  • Develop and implement new statistical methods
  • Lead training initiatives for company and statisticians
  • Create innovative code in R, Shiny, or other programming languages (eg, JAGS) as needed to support cross-team project work and enhance team efficiency.
  • Delegate activities to and supervising junior staff and contractors
  • Empower project team members to take positive action and accountability
  • Mentorship of direct reports in technical stream and delivering performance reviews
  • May be assigned some billable time to support project managers or their delegates on matters related to project timelines, progress on deliverables, and scope.
  • Advising on company strategy regarding technical or statistical service offerings
  • Leading technical elements / subject matter in proposals to clients
  • Stay updated and well-versed in the latest innovative statistical methods
  • Prominent role in leading statistical thought leadership activities for the company
  • Support HEOR statistics for cross-solving and business development capabilities
  • Strong role in repeat business through work quality and methods expertise
  • Attending strategically focused management meetings
  • Strong support of hiring activities for biostatisticians, as required..

  • All other duties as assigned

People leaders must possess both the skills to effectively accomplish these tasks and the emotional intelligence to do so in alignment with our cultural values. In addition to the critical management and leadership tasks listed above, this role also includes the following unique responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to other managers on interviews, supervision of staff, office management, and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and senior support to other managers on scientific standards, work methods and performance standards; and performance relative to departmental objectives
  • Responsible for and oversee their respective department.
  • Interview, select and supervise the activities of the department staff; communicate interpret and discuss with team the company policies and procedures.
  • Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards; review performance relative to departmental objectives discussion appraisal with each employee and performance; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline, and discharge and administer all other personnel actions.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Travel:Some travel may be required for meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management
  • Hours37.5 hours per week; days worked with accommodate client meetings and be negotiated with supervisor
    • Overtime and/or weekend/evening hours may be required to meet project deadlines

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • PhD or MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related field/thesis is preferred.
  • Five to eight (5-8) years of direct statistics work experience in health research, health technology assessment, market access or a related field
  • Strong understanding and experience in statistical methods that support HEOR or HTA.
  • Proficiency in R programming and familiarity with reproducible workflows (eg, git, scripts, AWS S3, Rmarkdown, R Shiny, RStudio Connect).
  • Proven track record for HEOR and evidence synthesis
  • Proven ability to problem solve with strong capabilities in identifying and implementing practical and creative solutions to difficult problems
  • Ability to plan, oversee, and manage coding conventions in complex projects
  • Technically competent with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a sometimes high-pressure environment
  • Ability to manage personal and project team members across competing projects
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate team and clients
  • Ability to effectively supervise, train, and mentor junior employees
