Job Description
My client, arguably one of the best companies in the sector, is an expanding international M&E consultancy with a proven track record in low energy design, focused on providing excellent design solutions to clients. They are looking to employ an experienced Senior / Principal Engineer based in their NE office. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering European data centres and mission-critical projects, along with sector experience in process pharmaceuticals, healthcare, commercial, labs, and/or clean rooms.
Role Responsibilities
Responsible for managing large projects, including client-facing roles in development, design, and coordination of engineering services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, and facilities across various building types.
Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes.
Conducts surveys, tests, and dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations.
Ensures manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing meet functional specifications and customer requirements.
Manages day-to-day project progress and liaises with clients, providing technical advice.
Represents the company at technical meetings with clients, professional teams, and contractors.
Ensures engineering calculations and drawings comply with industry and legal standards.
Leads the coordination of engineering services, applying holistic engineering concepts and solutions.
Role Requirements
BSc/BEng or equivalent degree in engineering or relevant experience.
Membership of MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND with appropriate experience, or equivalent.
Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
Extensive experience in specification design across various building types.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and standards.
Proficiency in MS Office and IT-based calculation software.
Understanding of BS standards, UK regulations, and codes.
Strong workload prioritization and deadline management skills.
Managerial, presentation, and project delivery skills, including financial, QA/QC, and technical review aspects.
