Senior Network & Security Engineer (Palo Alto / OT Projects)

Location: Nijmegen, Netherlands (Hybrid)

Contract: 12 Months

Pay Rate: €350 - €400 Per Day based upon experience.

Are you a seasoned Network & Security professional with a strong grasp of Palo Alto technologies and a flair for leadership? This is your chance to step into a high-impact role at the heart of a global security transformation project based in the Netherlands.

We're looking for a Senior Network & Security Engineer (Palo Alto / OT Projects) to support a major security upgrade across a complex international infrastructure. You'll play a key role in replacing and reconfiguring Palo Alto firewalls within a critical manufacturing environment, ensuring improved control, visibility, and resilience.

This is a 12-month contract with real potential to extend - ideal for someone who brings hands-on networking skills, a solid understanding of security principles, and the ability to lead and deliver within a multinational, multi-stakeholder landscape. Core Responsibilities

Coordinate network upgrades and improvement projects with Global IT and external partners.
Lead and support local automation and infrastructure initiatives.
Ensure IT project compliance with GMP guidelines and internal policies.
Maintain and align local IT procedures with global standards.
Support and coordinate the rollout of Zero Trust architecture using Palo Alto Networks, offering both technical insight and project leadership.
Act as liaison between technical teams, project managers, and vendors to drive smooth delivery.
Help shape and implement cybersecurity policies in line with best practice and compliance needs.
Promote awareness and provide training on cybersecurity, especially in OT environments.
Identify and report IT and OT risks to relevant stakeholders.
Bridge IT and OT systems (e.g. SCADA), focusing on operational safety and continuity.
Assess SCADA vulnerabilities and work with operational teams to develop solutions.
Advise on and implement standards for SCADA network segmentation, monitoring, and asset management.

Profile and Skills

Higher professional education (HBO) work and thinking level in the direction of IT, Industrial Automation, or similar.
Demonstrable experience in both IT and OT environments, preferably in regulated sectors (pharmaceutical, chemical, manufacturing).
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, particularly Zero Trust architectures.
Knowledge of networking.
Experience with Palo Alto Networks products is a plus.
Strong communication skills and able to liaise between technical teams, operational departments, and management.
Self-starter with a pragmatic approach and an eye for detail.
Knowledge of Office 365.
Knowledge of PowerApps is a plus.
