General Description:

The Senior Medical Advisor (Field-Based) UK & Ireland plays a pivotal role as a local medical expert within the organization, supporting the development and execution of local medical strategies. They establish compliant relationships with opinion leaders, research collaborators, and key organizations in support of BeiGene’s products and pipeline development across disease areas.

Primarily serving as the first point of contact for national Key Opinion Leaders and Medical Experts, the individual is committed to aligning internal medical strategies with the external scientific community and their respective local needs. This includes collaborating closely with professional research organizations to address data gaps, support pivotal trial data delivery, and support registration and reimbursement processes for innovative medicines in the malignant hematology space.

Key qualifications include experience in hemato-oncology, a network of healthcare professionals in these fields, and knowledge of the local healthcare system. The role provides critical support to healthcare professionals through the dissemination of scientific information and medical education, with a focus on improving clinical practice.

Operating within a matrix organization, the role reports to the Senior Medical Director and collaborates extensively with other Medical Affairs colleagues as well as cross-functional teams including Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Quality, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Operations and Clinical Development. Close interaction with local stakeholders in allocated disease areas ensures that strategic dialogue aligns with both local nuances and global/regional guidance in both pre and post launch.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Serve as the local medical expert by establishing and maintaining credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national and regional key opinion leaders and medical experts.

Provide education to the medical community on BeiGene products and disease areas of focus.

Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and execute a medical plan designed to meet shared objectives.

Facilitate responses to unsolicited requests for medical information, often in direct collaboration with BeiGene Medical Information Services personnel as appropriate

Develop and execute tactics for communicating complex scientific information to the healthcare community.

Provide impactful feedback, information and insights to internal stakeholders on emerging clinical and scientific trends from external interactions to help shape company strategy and research, and to ensure the safe and appropriate use of BeiGene products.

Act as a scientific resource with professional and advocacy organizations with the objective of developing relationships and identifying potential collaborative opportunities.

Build specific excellence and integrity within the healthcare community. Develop contacts with key clinicians, university teaching hospitals and other medical / scientific groups and stakeholders.

Develop speakers through one-on-one clinical training on approved clinical slide sets.

Assist in the development and execution of clinically relevant regional medical meetings (e.g. advisory boards, consultancies and investigator meetings) as required.

Identification and verification of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials. Scientifically support clinical trial and investigators centers for ongoing clinical studies as needed.

Serve as the primary territory liaison for the submission and review of Investigator- Research proposals, facilitating the process from concept submission through publication and uncover scientific data that may have the potential for publication and/or abstract presentation.

Support Healthcare Professionals with Expanded Access individual requests or programs as needed

Provide scientific training and medical support for internal Medical Affairs and Commercial colleagues as needed

Experience/Qualifications:

Preferred > 5 years of experience as Medical Science Liaison, Medical Advisor or similar field based Medical Affairs role within other Biotech/Pharmaceutical companies.

Experience in Haematology is essential, CLL and Lymphoma knowledge is strongly preferred.

MD, PharmD., or PhD within a clinical and/or scientific profession (or an equivalent level of professional, clinical and/or scientific education, training and experience) preferred

Exposure to Clinical Operations and Drug Development is also preferred.

Knowledge of applicable treatment, compliance, and regulatory guidelines within the given therapeutic area and country or region.

Computer Skills: 

PC and iPad literacy, proficient in Microsoft Office required

Experienced with electronic CRM systems

Other Qualifications:

High Level of English Communication (verbal and written)

Valid Drivers License

Travel: 

Majority of work involved in this role pertains to customer-facing field-based activities

An expert in understanding of the Country health care delivery system, including the managed care arena and its impact on patient care, local medical care, and the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to identify the unmet medical, educational, and research needs at a local (& regional) level in the medical community
