Senior Mechanical Estimating Engineer (Major Projects)
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Estimating Engineer to join a leading engineering company in their Major Projects division. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of the tendering process for large-scale projects, ensuring the successful delivery of high-value contracts.
Location: Warrington
Salary: £55-£65k
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage allocated contract enquiries and oversee the full tendering process.
  • Ensure tenders are developed and submitted in line with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Analyse project scope, source supplier and subcontractor quotations, and assess responses.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and compile estimates for materials, labour, and subcontractor elements.
  • Prepare and present tenders to senior management and directors.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits in the UK and overseas, producing detailed reports.
  • Establish total project manhours and evaluate resource requirements.
  • Provide guidance to junior estimating personnel and contribute to departmental improvements.
  • Ensure timely submission of tenders and support post-contract queries.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings, assisting with team briefings on successful bids.
    About You:
  • Relevant qualifications (HNC, ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Strong estimating experience within chemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear, utilities, or food & drink industries.
  • High competency in numeracy, English language, and IT systems.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Solid knowledge of estimating, commercial, engineering, and project management practices.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
