An exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer - Configuration to join a complex and rewarding programme. This role is key to the successful delivery of the integrated product and programme in an efficient manner, and provides the opportunity to develop holistic knowledge of the power station design, as well as the opportunity to influence and improve the configuration and change management framework.

Reporting to the Manager - Configuration, the Senior Engineer - Configuration will be responsible for embedding and leading engineering configuration and change management throughout the organisation.

What we're looking for

  • Lead efficient embedding and execution of the configuration & change management processes across the whole organisation, through training, coaching, and ongoing support to cross-functional teams.
  • Support Engineering, Safety, Programme and other interfacing teams with technical impact assessment of potential changes, supporting Change Reviews, ensuring that changes are managed in line with process, and ensuring that changes are implemented within the Change Management toolset.
  • Successful management of design baselines and changes, and agreement of these with key internal and external stakeholders (E.g. Regulators, Customers)
  • Developing and executing the process to create and manage Bills of Materials to a consistent and accurate standard, managing authorised change and applying the appropriate maturity status and version controls to the master configuration.
  • Manage the integration of components, assemblies, systems, modules and structures between different design responsible areas.
  • Lead the development and implementation of best-in-class Configuration Management processes and tools.
  • Develop the integration between Product Configuration Management and Project Building Information Modelling disciplines, processes, standards and tools.
  • Develop working practices for configuration & change specialist activities, data exchange processes, product structure control and reporting and analytics.
  • Nurture a culture of shared configuration responsibility, principles and language across the programme through engagement and training.
  • Contribute to the development of configuration plans, policies and processes that Configuration management and the wider Rolls-Royce SMR organisation operates within , including plans to support delivery of customer projects.
  • Representing Configuration Management both internally and externally to the Rolls-Royce SMR organisation.

    Key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Configuration Management domain knowledge:
    Proven experience in working with the principles of Configuration and Change Management including Planning, Identification, Change, Status Account & Audit
    Proven experience within a complex and highly regulated industry (e.g. Nuclear, Aerospace, Defence, Naval, Pharmaceutical etc.)
    Knowledge and experience of the application of CM Standards, e.g. ISO 10007, EIA-649B, DEF-STAN-055

  • Proficient use of Teamcenter (or equivalent PLM) :
    Development, implementation, testing and/or extensive use of PLM tools to support configuration Management activities

  • Interrogation and analysis of large volumes of data:
    Use of tools and techniques to manipulate and analyse data to form conclusions
    Ensuring data quality and correctness

  • Technical reporting, communication and influence: 
    Strong administrative, presentation and report writing skills.
    Ability to communicate complex technical topics and principles to a wide audience
    Ability to convince and influence stakeholders

  • Problem solving and project management:
    Excellent problem-solving skills
    Ability to enact solution s within required timescales, quality and cost.

    Training & Degree-level qualification in a relevant technical field.

    Relevant Technical degree level or extensive experience in related fields.
    CM2-C or equivalent Configuration Management Standard trained , or equivalent membership of a professional body (E.g. IEng, CEng).

    Applicants without a degree who can nevertheless demonstrate suitable knowledge and experience may also be considered.

    Pay and Benefits

    We anticipate paying a salary of between £48,000 - £62,500 (DOE) plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance - £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
