About the Role:
Machnet Medical Robotics is an innovative MedTech startup dedicated to revolutionizing image-guided interventions with our groundbreaking robotic system. We are currently seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of electronic systems for our cutting-edge robotic products.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and optimization of electronic systems for medical robotics, including circuit design, power management, and embedded systems.
  • Design schematics, PCB layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools like Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Select and integrate electrical/electronic components (e.g., sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and power supplies) that align with performance and safety standards.
  • Design fail-safe mechanisms and redundancy systems to ensure reliability in critical medical applications.
  • Implement and document safety measures, including grounding, isolation, and protection mechanisms.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test protocols, and user manuals.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, identifying and mitigating risks associated with electrical/electronic systems.
  • Ensure design processes align with ISO 14971 for risk management in medical devices.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory standards, including IEC 60601, FDA, and ISO 13485 requirements for safety, EMC, and risk management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to power distribution, signal integrity, and control system performance.
  • Maintain detailed records of design changes, test results, and compliance certifications for audit readiness.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and methods relevant to medical device design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Who are we looking for:

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a similar field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical/electronics design, with a focus on medical devices or similar regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of working with IEC 60601 standards and other medical device regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, ISO 14971).
  • Proficient in CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, AutoCAD Electrical) for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, Ethernet or EtherCAT for system integration.
  • Familiarity with power electronics, motor control, and signal conditioning circuits.
  • Experience in designing and developing electrical/electronic systems for medical devices, particularly those classified as Class II or Class III.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation for regulatory submissions, including FDA, EU MDR or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, from concept to production, in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • You are focused, organised and have a drive to develop high-quality products.
  • Innovator and interested in biomedical technology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

What we offer:

  • Join an international and interdisciplinary team based in central London and the Netherlands, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.
  • Contribute to a rapidly growing medical device startup with ambitious global impact goals, making a significant difference in healthcare.
  • A central London office with a well-equipped prototyping space. Access continuous learning and professional development through training programs, workshops, and conferences.
  • Thrive in an inclusive and diverse workplace that values and supports every team member.
  • An attractive salary package, competitive with industry standards.
