We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience inCancer Biology/Immunologyto join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will be part of a team that evaluatespatient-derived tissuesusing cutting-edge cellular, molecular, and genomic techniques. This role involves partnering with AI/ML and analytics experts to integrate data from these multimodal approaches, aiming to improvecancer patient risk stratification, identify clinical biomarkers, and predict susceptibilitiesto targeted and/or immunotherapies.

Please note this position is lab based.

In this role you will

  • Support our Patient Derived Explant (PDE) multi-omics capabilities to advance GSK assets, understand mechanisms of action, and evaluate treatment combinations.
  • Conduct experiments using fresh and biobanked tumor samples, employing cell biology techniques (e.g., drug treatment, cytotoxicity analysis, cell culture, etc.)
  • Independently perform cytokine analysis (e.g., MSD, ELISA, flow cytometry) and immunofluorescence experiments.
  • Solve technical issues and collaborate as part of a cross-functional project team.
  • Ensure proper storage, tracking, and documentation of samples used in translational and clinical experiments.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BSc or MSci/MRes on Cancer Biology, Immuno-oncology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with fresh and frozen tissue samples and complex immunology experimental approaches (e.g., complex co-culture, ex vivo testing from patient samples, etc).
  • Proven ability to independently perform cell culturing and experiments such as MSD/ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence.
  • Track record of delivering high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result oriented attitude.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Experience in cancer genomics and multi-omics technologies (e.g., RNASeq, spatial transcriptomics, scRNAseq, WES, etc).
  • Experience in collaboration with biopharma.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate complex scientific and business challenges.
  • Evidence of effective troubleshooting and assay development ability.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
