Our Innovation team is growing - and we are delighted to be creating a new Associate Director role.

About the Role:

Reporting to the VP Innovation & Strategy, the newAssociate Director - Scientific Technology Evaluationwill play a key role in theidentification and technical assessment of novel radiopharmaceutical product opportunities, primarily in the oncology disease space.This will involve building a holistic view of external opportunities through landscape mapping and analysis, and proactive radiopharmaceutical technology scouting from biotech/pharma/TTO’s. This role will also support Blue Earth R&D project teams for existing products in the company pipeline with scientific evaluation of the competitive landscape. The Associate Director - Technology Evaluation will also develop and lead on the establishment of longer-term strategic R&D collaborations (including through grant partnerships) with academia to develop novel agents. The role will require extensive collaboration with Blue Earth colleagues and across Bracco functions such as the Bracco Technology Scouting team and Bracco Global R&D Early-Stage Innovation Department. The successful candidate will need to visit the Oxford office on a hybrid basis each week.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the VP Innovation & Strategy to develop and maintain a clear view of emerging trends in the radiopharmaceutical landscape, to define promising areas of clinical unmet need for future investment focus
  • Assist the VP Innovation & Strategy as well as domain experts in the business relevant disease areas (e.g. oncology) by providing technology / IP landscaping and analysis reports as required
  • Provide scientific rigor on new concepts in diagnostic imaging as well as emerging technologies
  • Lead on the identification and technical assessment of product pipeline opportunities, against pre-defined criteria e.g. (target validation, clinical unmet need, market size, imaging technology, strategic fit, intellectual property position, competition) and provide written summaries of outputs, in collaboration with BED colleagues and Bracco Technology Scouting team
  • Manage the due diligence process for prioritised opportunities, working with functional experts to undertake gap analysis and rigorous in-depth assessment; support market research activities
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of current business product portfolio, emerging adjacencies and competitive technology, to inform Blue Earth’s R&D project teams
  • Support the Bracco Global R&D Early Stage Innovation Department with technology evaluation intel, to influence the shape of their early stage nuclear medicine project portfolio
  • Lead on the establishment of longer-term strategic R&D collaborations with academia
  • Investigate potential opportunities to leverage grant funding, for research collaborations relating to the new product pipeline
  • Be able to communicate accurately and clearly to a wide variety of stakeholders to enable high quality and timely decisions for portfolio growth
  • An a representative of Blue Earth, responsible for clear and confident communication with external parties and effective stakeholder management
  • Ensure compliance with BED’s Standard Operating Procedures
  • Other duties as determined by business needs.

Requirements:

  • Educated to at least degree level, preferably with a PhD in the life sciences or equivalent research experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in an academic role, pharma or biotech company, preferably in early phase drug development in the Oncology space
  • Must have an excellent understanding of cancer biology and recent developments in cancer diagnostics and therapy
  • Experience in technology evaluation or good understanding of the desired acceptance criteria for a promising diagnostic or therapeutic agent required
  • R&D experience of radiopharmaceuticals preferred but not required
  • Must be able to evaluate, interpret and synthesise scientific data, and verbally present and critically discuss scientific data at internal and external meetings
  • Must have experience of managing projects involving external research collaborations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organisational skills, including multitasking, efficiency, punctuality, and project management
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills. Ability to influence and build relationships/earn credibility quickly across broad global constituencies with competing priorities.

Strong coaching, facilitation, and organizational skills; team player. Experience and skills with cross-functional and highly matrixed organizations.
