We're on the lookout for a driven SCADA Engineer to join a pioneering Operations & Engineering team at a new R&D facility in Manchester. This permanent position places you at the technical core of high-impact projects, supporting the rollout and optimization of complex SCADA systems across manufacturing and energy-integrated environments.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and third-party vendors, bringing clarity to communications, precision to documentation, and insight to system performance and commissioning. From reviewing client specs to troubleshooting live installations — your role will be both strategic and hands-on.

What You'll Be Doing:
Analyse and comment on SCADA specs and scope documents from clients and design partners.
Source and manage proposals from specialist SCADA subcontractors and vendors.
Coordinate across substation, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), and O&M suppliers to ensure alignment on SCADA integration.
Review technical drawing sets and documentation from external SCADA vendors and Engineers of Record (EORs).
Support the project and construction teams through commissioning and handover stages.
Participate in training from SCADA and equipment manufacturers to stay ahead of the curve.
Assist in performance testing and troubleshooting across operational and warranty-stage sites.
Maintain clear records, manage communications, and track system issues through to resolution.

Your Background:
Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or Data Engineering from an accredited institution.
5+ years of hands-on SCADA engineering experience — ideally in pharmaceutical, chemicals, or large-scale industrial sectors.
Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and system diagrams.
Proven knowledge of SCADA comms protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus, IEC61850, IEEE standards).
Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC, FERC).
Experience with HMI interfaces across various SCADA platforms.
Comfortable navigating and working in digital engineering environments (AutoDesk ACC, MS Visio, AutoCAD).
Programming abilities and data analysis skills considered a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
