Company Description

Since 2011, we’ve had a clear mission: money without borders. Built by and for people who live global lives, we’re the fairest, easiest way to manage your money across borders.

We’re just at the beginning of our story and we’re growing at an incredible pace. We won’t stop until anyone, anywhere can send, spend and receive money wherever they are, whatever they’re doing. There’s still heaps to do and we can’t do it alone.

We’re looking for a Compliance Manager to support our UK Electronic Money Institution (EMI) business and scale our Wise Account and supporting payments products.

Based in London, you will work with a growing team of multidisciplinary specialists (Risk, Legal, Product, Treasury, Security, marketing) across the globe. You’ll help manage and strengthen the team’s approach to managing the regulatory risks, their governance and oversight.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Advise the business on regulatory requirements related to our UK Payments and Investment products.
  2. Handle escalations from first line product teams including check and challenge of regulatory analysis provided by our first line product compliance teams.
  3. Support first line to identify relevant regulatory risks.
  4. Review regulatory changes applicable to our business.
  5. Draft regulatory compliance policies.
  6. Challenge product implementation plans to ensure regulatory changes are implemented in a timely manner.
  7. Work closely with the wider regulatory team to manage our policy framework, regulatory engagement and reporting in relation to our business.
  8. Work with the first line business owners to ensure findings from audits and monitoring and testing are remediated efficiently and effectively.
  9. Provide regulatory training and self-help materials to assist the first line teams comply with regulatory obligations and compliance policies.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  1. Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them to help them understand the regulatory framework and bring together the information that our regulators need.
  2. Help keep compliance right at the heart of our business by helping the team understand and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
  3. Implement innovative and creative solutions with a technology and customer focused approach to help us achieve the Wise Mission.

A bit about you:

  1. Our ideal candidate will have a regulatory advisory background, great communication and organisational skills, tons of motivation and positivity. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate they have these attributes:
  2. Theory: Experience with regulations applicable to Payments and/or Investment businesses such as PSRs 2017 & EMRs 2011, applicable parts of the FCA handbook.
  3. Practice: Ability to conduct analysis on the UK Financial Regulations and provide comprehensive regulatory advice to the business.
  4. Passion: A problem-solver who enjoys finding innovative solutions and collaborating with different teams to deliver a mission.
  5. Get the job done: A sense of urgency and an ability to work well under pressure, prioritising, taking responsibility and communicating priorities effectively to others.
  6. Communication: A strong relationship builder across all levels of the business and externally, with the ability to influence others and empower teams to strengthen their processes to mitigate risks.
  7. Development: Consideration of the challenges and development opportunities of working at a fast-growing company.
  8. Travel: The role is London-based, but many of our teams are located across different office locations. You’ll be ready to travel if needed.

Some extra skills that would be great:

Knowledge of merchant acquiring or CASS/Safeguarding regimes would be advantageous but not essential.

What we offer in return:

Lots of awesome opportunities for everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and ensure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.

Biotechnology Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

As we move into 2026, the biotechnology jobs market in the UK is going through rapid change. Funding cycles are tighter, some organisations are restructuring or consolidating, & yet demand for specialist biotech skills remains strong – particularly in areas like cell & gene therapy, bioprocessing, mRNA platforms, bioinformatics & regulatory affairs. New therapies are coming through the pipeline, advanced manufacturing facilities are scaling up, & digital tools are transforming lab & clinical workflows. At the same time, some roles are being automated, outsourcing patterns are shifting, & hiring standards are rising. Whether you are a biotech job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter trying to build teams in a complex market, understanding the key biotechnology hiring trends for 2026 will help you stay ahead. This guide follows the same structure as the AI hiring article & is written with SEO in mind for both job seekers & recruiters searching for terms like “biotechnology hiring trends 2026”, “biotech recruitment UK”, “biotech jobs in the UK” & “biomanufacturing careers 2026”.

Biotechnology Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Must Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK biotechnology hiring has shifted from title-led CV screens to capability-driven assessments that emphasise validated lab results, documentation, GxP/QA/RA awareness, data literacy, digital biology tools & measurable impact from bench to bedside. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for wet-lab scientists, bioprocess/CMC engineers, QC/QA specialists, RA/clinical professionals, bioinformatics/data scientists & platform engineers. Who this is for: Biologists, biochemists, biotechnologists, cell & gene therapy scientists, upstream/downstream processing engineers, QA/QC analysts, validation engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, clinical trial professionals, bioinformaticians, data scientists & biotech product/operations managers targeting roles in the UK.

Why Biotechnology Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Biotechnology once meant pipettes, lab benches & research reports. But in today’s UK job market, biotech careers are no longer confined to wet labs or sequencing centres. As the sector expands into gene therapies, synthetic biology, personalised medicine, agricultural biotech, and bioinformatics, professionals are expected to integrate not just biology & chemistry, but also law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This change reflects a broader truth: biotechnology doesn’t happen in isolation. It impacts people’s health, the environment, food supply & society at large. That means careers in biotech now require more than scientific knowledge — they demand legal awareness, ethical reasoning, patient empathy, clear communication, and user-centred design. In this article, we’ll explore why biotech careers in the UK are becoming multidisciplinary, how law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design are shaping job descriptions, and what job-seekers & employers need to do to succeed in this transformed landscape.
