Regulatory Officer – Food & Cosmetics

Location:UK (fully remote role only within UK)

Salary:up to £40,000 + bonus

Overview of the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Professional to join a dynamic role as a consultant within the food and cosmetic sectors, mostly covering the UK and EU markets. Within this role you will engage with popular global brands, offering expert advice to help them achieve product compliance or bring new product ideas to life.

You will be expected to work with highly technical clients, or representatives from national or European authorities, as well as creative brand owners with innovative ideas. The role is diverse in requirements and will offer the opportunity to continuously grow your knowledge base in order to support our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform formulation and label reviews for nutritional and cosmetic products including food supplements, general foods, foods for special medical purposes to the applicable UK and European Regulations and suggest adaptations to enable product marketability.

• Submit food supplement notifications in various designated EU member states.

• Manage Cosmetic product notifications in the UK and EU, review and create PIF’s and advise on claim substantiations.

• Writing novel food dossiers, submission to authorities (UK or EU) and liaising with authorities through the evaluation procedure.

• Maintenance of high-quality internal records and documentation linked to all areas of the business.

• Regulatory project management.

• Assessing and determining prioritisation of projects: clients with limited input.

• Providing regulatory support and advice to other areas of the business.

• Liaison with suppliers, clients, development partners and regulatory bodies.

• Liaison with copy approval team to support or use resource as required to complete project work.

• Maintain continual professional development in food/food supplements and cosmetics or general consumer goods.

• Assist Regulatory Affairs Manager – Food & Cosmetics in the development of departmental systems and procedures.

• Assisting in growth of the regulatory consultancy business – business development

proposals, external meetings, presentations and training as required.

• To partake when needed in client meetings and meetings with competent authorities.

• Support marketing and business development activities, including attendance at industry events, contributing to networking opportunities, and supporting the creation of content that promotes the business.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years direct Regulatory Affairs experience in food, food supplements and Cosmetics or general consumer goods portfolios.

• Scientific academic qualification or extensive relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or food sector.

• Knowledge of relevant guidance in EU and GB for foods, food supplements and cosmetics or general consumer goods.

• Computer literate across a number of applications, including Microsoft office.

• Ability to solve routine problems and to manage issues constructively.

• Act autonomously where appropriate, take initiatives and make decisions with a clear understanding of the consequences and potential next steps.

• Ability to communicate verbally and in written format, concise and meaningful information to support actions, decisions, and proposals.

• Self-motivated individual with ability to take ownership and organise project work on day-to-day basis with limited guidance.

Desirable Requirements

• Knowledge of homeopathic products, traditional Herbal Medicines is desired.

• Proficiency in additional languages at professional level or ability to work with national authorities in any / some of the EU member states.

• Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles, mainly HACCP or EN ISO 22716:2007. Cosmetics – Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
