We are seeking a senior lawyer for a contract role to support the AME (Americas & Europe) region’s legal strategy and commercial objectives. This role will be critical in enabling business transformation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing legal risk across diverse markets.
Acting as a strategic advisor, the Regional Counsel will lead high-impact legal initiatives and provide commercially-focused legal counsel across regulatory, marketing, compliance, and governance matters. The role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and legal colleagues across the region and globally.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Legal Leadership & Business Enablement
    Provide senior-level legal counsel aligned with business transformation goals.
    Identify and mitigate legal and reputational risks in regulatory, commercial, and governance domains.
    Shape legal strategy that balances risk management with commercial agility.
  2. Legal Project Ownership & Execution
    Lead regional execution of key legal initiatives, particularly around regulatory risk, marketing compliance, and governance frameworks.
    Ensure consistent application of legal best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
    Own the delivery of high-value legal support in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Regulatory Complexity & Compliance
    Conduct regulatory legal risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
    Lead legal responses to changing regulatory landscapes, ensuring business continuity.
    Support development of advocacy positions on regulatory issues in partnership with corporate affairs colleagues.
  4. Governance & Investigations
    Act as a regional expert on corporate governance, ensuring legal integrity in processes.
    Provide legal oversight on strategic litigation and internal investigations.
    Drive implementation of compliance frameworks covering areas such as GDPR, anti-bribery, and competition law.
  5. Stakeholder & External Counsel Engagement
    Advise and influence senior internal stakeholders to align legal priorities with business goals.
    Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
    Represent the region in global legal forums and initiatives.

    Core Relationships
    Internal:
    Regional marketing, operations, HR, finance, and legal teams
    Central legal and compliance teams
    Global functions including tax, audit, treasury, and M&A
    External:
    External legal advisors and third-party service providers

    Experience & Qualifications
    Essential:
    Qualified senior lawyer with expertise in regulatory, commercial, and corporate law
    Proven ability to lead complex legal projects in a multinational environment
    Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
    Hands-on, commercially minded, with sound legal judgement
    Experience working in highly regulated industries such as FMCG or pharmaceuticals
    Expertise in governance, compliance, and risk management

    Beneficial:
    Cross-border legal experience in the AME region
    Exposure to litigation, investigations, and regulatory advocacy
