Graduate Biologist or Chemist required, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Requiring a degree in Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar and an enthusiastic and proactive mind set. Any industrial laboratory experience in the chemical industry would be advantageous.

Title: Quality Technician

Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000 per annum

SRG are exclusively partnered with a leading FMCG manufacturing organisation with a fantastic reputation for making top-quality products. As a result of an acquisition by a multi-national organisation, they are now looking to hire a Quality Technician to join their team in Harrogate. The role will involve carrying out a variety of testing in the lab, as well as supporting with QA tasks in the factory including auditing and walkarounds. The position would be well suited to a recent Chemistry graduate, with or without industrial experience, who is interested in kick-starting their career in a very multi-faceted role.

Important note: this role is a shift-based role so candidates either need their own transport or to reside/be willing to relocate to Harrogate for this position.

Role / Description

Performing a variety of testing methods in the laboratory (around 70% of time)
Carrying out microbiology testing: plating, filtration, colony identification etc
Also carrying out wet chemistry (pH and elemental) and sensory testing
Supporting with a variety of QA based tasks (30% of time)
Internal auditing of the production facilities to ensure regulatory compliance
Maintain the on-site QMS
Support with external regulatory audits
Maintain up-to-date technical information on database and work safely in accordance with company safety procedure, COSHH and quality standards.Requirements

Recently graduated with a degree (or equivalent) in either Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or similar
Experience or interest in FMCG manufacturing is ideal, but not essential
Willing and able to work on a shift pattern including weekend working
Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to learn
Organised, with good communication skills and high attention to detail
Able to multi-task and change priorities according to workload
