Summary:

eXmoor helps clients with their manufacturing of cell and gene therapies (CGT) and biopharmaceuticals. We provide; (1) translation consultancy to close the gap between R&D and clinical manufacture, (2) process development services from our purpose-built laboratory, (3) capital project design through to licensing, and (4) GMP manufacturing for early phase clinical trials.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing life sciences graduate to join our commercial team as a Proposal Manager / Writer. This position will work closely with the operations, technical and business development teams to prepare proposals for new business across all of eXmoor’s service offerings. Job Description:

Job Purpose:

You will work alongside the Business Development (BD) managers and Project Managers, supporting them with the preparation of proposals for new project opportunities for all parts of eXmoor’s business. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will have the ability to work to tight deadlines and coordinate input from a variety of stakeholders to produce compelling proposals that meet customer expectations.

Main areas of responsibility/key duties:

  • ​Review Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) documents to gain an understanding of client requirements and identify missing information.
  • Participate in client meetings to understand project scopes and customer requirements.
  • Plan and lead internal proposal planning meetings with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Project Managers to review customer requirements and agree
  • Support the Business Development Manager by coordinating proposal drafting, proposal approval process and issuance to customer.
  • Recommend and/or obtain internal stakeholder consensus on proposal strategies for each customer and project
  • Work alongside Project Managers to create project timelines/ Gantt charts using tools including MS Project
  • Consolidate internal SME expertise/ know-how into high impact proposal text with key information and selling messages outlined
  • Create project budgets using the internal fee-estimate sheet and present pricing in a format to meet customer requirements.
  • Record relevant customer information and proposal activities in the CRM system
  • Prepare sales/ business development reports as required
  • Build relationships with the operational and technical teams to understand the work we do and match it with customer needs.
  • Maintain a database of competitor/ industry pricing intelligence to ensure eXmoor’s pricing strategies are competitive.

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc in life sciences or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a biopharma or life sciences organisation
  • Project management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Technical, scientific and commercial acumen
  • Excellent proficiency in Office365, especially use of Excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excited by the prospect of joining an ambitious, growing team in CGT
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Understanding and experience of cell & gene therapy
  • Past experience of working in project management, proposal writing, laboratory research or manufacturing
  • Experience of customer relationship management (CRM) systems e.g. Salesforce, Pipedrive
  • Experience in a customer services, marketing or sales environment
