Projects Health and Safety Advisor - R&D
Hertfordshire
Rate: ~ £400 per day (Outside IR35)
Initial 6 Month Contract (likely ongoing)

A leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology company is looking to secure a Projects Health and Safety Advisor to support a significant programme of R&D-related infrastructure and equipment upgrades. This role will play a vital part in ensuring safety and compliance across a range of laboratory-based projects - from new equipment installations to full lab refurbishments.

The successful candidate will act as the EHS point of contact for R&D-led project activity, providing guidance throughout the design and planning phases and ensuring safety, practicality, and sustainability are at the heart of each initiative.

The role will involve:

Acting as the main EHS contact for multiple R&D-led projects across the site
Reviewing user requirements, design documents, and change control elements for technical projects
Ensuring EHS considerations are fully embedded before the construction phase - with a strong focus on laboratory environments
Coordinating with internal subject matter experts to input into complex safety topics (e.g. gases, LEV systems, hazardous materials)
Providing hands-on support across a diverse range of lab-based changes - from equipment upgrades to building refurbishmentsThe successful Projects Health and Safety Advisor will have:

Strong lab safety experience within pharma, biopharma, or R&D environments
A solid background in health and safety across technical or scientific workplaces
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to safety in fast-paced, high-tech settings
NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (NEBOSH Diploma / NCRQ / NVQ 5 ideal)
