The Role

As a Consultant Psychiatrist in our private adolescent mental health unit and outpatient CAMHS team, you will lead psychiatric care and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective service delivery. Responsibilities include:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Serving as the Responsible Clinician within the multidisciplinary team
  • Overseeing patient care and treatment plans
  • Assessing and managing cases collaboratively with patients, carers, and external stakeholders
  • Chairing MDT/CPA meetings and adhering to policies
  • Contributing to unit governance and leadership

Management Responsibilities

  • Providing clinical leadership alongside the Ward Manager
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Participating in governance meetings, quality initiatives, and service development
  • Engaging in academic activities, including case presentations and teaching
  • Participating in audits, research, and quality improvement projects

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych
  • Full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Registration on the specialist register with CAMHS CCT/CESR and valid AC Status
  • Experience and knowledge in CAMHS
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and related codes of practice
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive assessments, lead ward rounds, oversee complex cases, support families, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with standards. Drive service improvements and collaborate with leadership to enhance patient care.
