Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and inquisitive individual to join as aPortfolio Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Infrastructure Analyst, the role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, learning and applying new skills to develop analytical reports, processes, and products to a variety of stakeholders. The role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in data-driven decision-making, collaborating across multiple business areas to deliver meaningful insights that drive impact.

Qualifications

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proficiency in using scripting languages such as Python or Matlab to complete analysis and provide solutions.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in roles that utilise analytical and problem-solving skills such as a data analyst, engineer or researcher.
  • Experience completing or reviewing traceable analyses of varied datasets and presenting findings clearly to audiences with varying levels of data expertise.
  • Demonstrable experience of mapping processes, identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines and work instructions in line with guidelines on document control.
  • Experience presenting analysis as written reports, slides, and as presentations.

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience or a strong interest in clinical research.
  • Proficiency in Alteryx, including building complex workflows, utilising macros, and integrating APIs.
  • Familiar with working with unstructured data using natural language processing (NLP) techniques such as text classification, clustering, and named entity recognition (NER), as well as integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) programmatically via APIs (Google Gemini).
  • Knowledge of relational databases.
  • Fluency in accessing data through third party application programming interfaces (such as APIs).
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence/Data Visualisation software (Qlik preferable).
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud and Google AI Studio.
  • Ability to develop requirements, and subsequently design and validate a solution that meets the requirements.
  • Knowledge of health categorisation of research data, such as UKCRC HRCS coding and providing traceable analysis.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and initiatives in parallel, working with senior team members to prioritise workload, definition of deliverables and management of timelines.
  • Ability to adapt communication to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of working practices and processes to deliver operational excellence.
  • Task driven with meticulous record keeping.
  • Interest in life sciences, science advancement, and the development of new health and care innovations for the benefit of patients and the public.
  • Development of productive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues from across the NIHR, DHSC and wider research system demonstrating capacity to influence a wide range of stakeholders.

£40,300 per year

NB:This is a permanent, full time position, working 37.5 hours per week.

This is an office based, hybrid role, with an expectation for all employees to attend our offices a minimum of 4 days a month, usually worked as 1 day per week, and may increase, subject to team requirements.
