West Kent Primary Care is seeking to employ a Pharmacy Technician on behalf of Tunbridge Wells Primary Care Network (PCN) to support their team of technicians and work with one or two of their eight member practices.

TunbridgeWells Primary Care Network (PCN) is made up of 8 member GP practices servicingover 84,000 patients. We are a forwardthinking, dynamic and cohesive PCN offering services including First Contact MSKAssessment, Social Prescribing, Paramedics and Clinical Pharmacy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with practice prescribing teams to support effective medication use through conversations withpatients and Primary Care colleagues. The post holder will support the Clinical Pharmacists to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and efficientmedicine management systems. This will include repeat prescribing, medicinesoptimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes andundertaking searches and audits to improve with quality of services provided.

As part of this role the PCN willfund for you to be enrolled into the NHS England CPPE Education Programme whichlasts for 15 months. Study leave and time off to attend courses will be builtinto your work plan.

Job responsibilities

To undertake patient facing and patient supportroles to ensure effective medicine use

Carry out medicines optimisation tasks inaccordance with PCN and practice protocols to update patients medical records/ prescribing accordingly

To support the achievement of the practicesprescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF) targets

Supporting the delivery of specifications thatrelate directly to the Investment & Impact Funding system

Working with the Clinical Pharmacists and PrescriptionClerks to contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribingprotocols to improve the efficiency and effectiveness by championing electronicprescriptions

To support the Clinical Pharmacist to providemedication reviews, patient information leaflets, medicine awareness; and toundertake community visits as appropriate.

Support initiatives for antimicrobialstewardship

To identify areas of good practice and todisseminate this across the PCN.

To devise and carry out various audits and drugsearches

Person SpecificationQualifications

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent and have a NVQ level 3 and be registered with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

  • Knowledge or Use of the clinical system EMIS

Experience

  • Previous experience in primary, secondary or community care
  • Able to use Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of participation in audits or project management.
  • Experience working with GP Practices
  • Up to date knowledge of drug actions, doses, formulations and interactions.
  • Familiarity with NICE technology appraisals relevant to primary care.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the NHS Long Term (10 year) plan
