We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a rotational post providing experience of all aspects of the pharmacy technician role in a hospital environment, including dispensing and preparation of medicines, pharmacy stores and procurement and ward-based technical services.
Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:
BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent or expected completion of within the next 4 months.
Main duties of the job

Brief Description of the Role:

You will play a key role in the provision of pharmacy services helping us to deliver and improve the quality of patient care.
Key elements of the role include:
Work as part of the pharmacy dispensary services team in the comprehensive and efficient supply and delivery of medications.
Performing accuracy checks on dispensed and ward stock items prepared by other staff
Communicate non-complex advice and counselling to patients and carers (in relation to medicines usage)
Medicines optimisation on wards including assessment of patients own medicines and medicines reconciliation
Ordering and supply of pharmacy stock
The post involves weekend, Bank Holiday and late night rota duties.

Person Specification

Experience

Experience of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired though training
Experience of working in a similar role
Skills

Numeracy skills with attention to accuracy
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Good team working skills
Demonstrable attention to detail
Knowledge

Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
Knowledge of Medicines Optimisation
Knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical technical procedures specific to the area of work
Qualifications

NVQ3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent level
Registration with the GPhC as a qualified pharmacy technician (or in the process of registering with GPhC if undertaking pre-registration training)
