Woodland Hospital - Kettering

Part Time - 30 hours

Ramsay Health Care’s Woodland Hospital in Kettering, Northamptonshire has a vacancy for a Pharmacy Technician/ACT to join their expanding team in the Pharmacy department. This is an exciting role, within a unique Pharmacy environment, with opportunities for further development and offering a flexible working pattern of up to 30 hours per week.

The pharmacy department at Woodlands also supports the provision of medication at nearby Glendon Hospital, which specialises in eye surgery and endoscopy.

 

Details of the position:

As a key member of the department, you will support the Pharmacy Manager and the team in the provision of all pharmacy services, including, but not limited to, ordering, stock control and preparation of drugs and medicines. You will be involved in staff development and training throughout the hospital, as well as supporting the team make decisions and introduce innovative and streamlined processes. You will be working with a friendly and committed group of colleagues who consistently achieve the best outcomes for our patients and who are always looking to improve and develop.

Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring accurate and legal dispensing and issue of prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients as specified in Ramsay Health Care Policies and Procedures
Undertaking duties in relation to the manufacture of pharmacy goods.
Supporting the pharmacist to ensure that Inpatient Prescription Record Charts are checked regularly to ensure treatment is appropriate, both clinically and financially and that the patient has sufficient supplies.
Providing advice to patients/carers and clinical staff on pharmaceutical products.
Supervising, training and coaching new staff if applicable
Ensuring that the agreed standards of patient care and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with Ramsay policies
Adhering to GPhC standards of conduct, ethics and performance
To take part in weekend and bank holiday rotas on a rotation basis.

The successful candidate will hold the following essential qualifications/criteria:
NVQ3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent level
Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
At least 4 GCSEs (A-C), including English, Maths and Science or equivalent qualifications
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
Demonstrated Customer Service skills
Demonstrated Computer Skills
It would also be desirable, but not essential, for the applicant to have experience working in a hospital environment
