Oil and Gas Contract Manager | Calmore, Southampton | Full Time | Working hours are Monday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm | £65,000 - £75,000 + D.O.E

Our client is a very well-established mechanical engineering organisation offering complete project services to a variety of industries including Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power, Water and Pharmaceutical. Working to the relevant industry codes and standards, they pride themselves in delivering high-end solutions to client-specific requirements with a key emphasis on safety & quality assurance.

They are seeking a driven and proactive Oil and Gas Contract Manager to join their site installation team. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple projects spanning from tendering through to completion across petrochemical, oil and gas, and fuel storage sites. This includes planning, directing, and managing all aspects of contract execution, such as project and contract management, scheduling, cost control, procurement, resource management, and quality assurance.

You will also be expected to build and maintain strong client relationships, identify and support business development opportunities, and develop strategies to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Attributes

  • Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Solid engineering background in the Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, or similar industries
  • High level of mathematical and numerical competency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Codes & Standards

A sound understanding and working knowledge of the following industry codes and standards is desired:

  • Construction & Design Management (CDM)
  • ISO 45001 - Occupational Health & Safety
  • ASME B31.3 - Process Piping


What will your role look like?

  • Conduct site surveys and produce detailed on-site cost breakdowns for quotations, including scope of work, labour hours, plant and equipment, and subcontracted activities (e.g. craneage, scaffolding, civils, etc.)
  • Prepare, review, and update the weekly on-site labour resource plan
  • Manage and ensure compliance with on-site QA and Health & Safety requirements
  • Compile and submit project programmes for both estimating and contractual purposes
  • Complete CDM requirements, including site kick-off meeting, site progress meeting and site close-out meetings
  • Liaise with the workshop production department to understand material delivery requirements onsite
  • Project manage labour and subcontractors onsite
  • Compile contract variations, obtain client approval, and submit to the estimating department for costing; agree on monthly progress payments
  • Create new business streams to increase the client base within the different sectors
  • Maintain strong client relationships; gather information on existing and upcoming projects and report to the Managing Director, Operations Director, or Estimating Department
