The senior network architect is responsible for strategy planning, development, architecture design, evolution and life cycle of network related architectures and services across a particular region. The role also involves project management of network and architecture related projects across the region, participation in global project design and delivery, level three support, escalation support and cross collaboration with other technology and business teams.

Your role:

  • Design, configure and manage the deployment of:

o Cisco Catalyst switches, 2960X, 4500X, 9000 series

o Spanning tree, VLANs, 802.1q, trunks, switch stacks and Virtual Switching Systems

o Deploying QoS to support IP Telephony

o Cisco 2504, 3504, 5000 series and mobility express wireless controllers

o Wireless deployment planning and site surveys

o Riverbed Steelhead WAN optimizers and cloud Steelhead appliances

o Dynamic and static routing protocols including EBGP and IBGP

o DNS and IOS DHCP server configuration

o In depth knowledge of TCP/IP

o Ability to use packet capture utilities, WireShark

o Manage the installation and deployment of CPE devices delivered by managed WAN providers

o MPLS and IPSEC WAN technologies

o Remote access VPN

o Lead troubleshooting and management of level 3 support incidents and escalations

  • Collaborate with business teams to determine and document business requirements of new and upcoming projects
  • Translate business requirements into a technical high-level design
  • Complete low-level designs, documentation and configurations, and provide budget guidance for project infrastructure
  • Project manage and support infrastructure installation, configuration, testing and handover to support teams
  • Collaborate with cross functional internal teams, partners and vendors to ensure infrastructure and services are delivered and operational in required timelines, whilst ensuring proper processes are followed, and security and budget controls are adhered to
  • Lead and provide direction in complex problem-solving situations and participate in direct interaction with internal staff, third parties and vendors
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Identify, research, and evaluate emerging technologies and solutions
  • Assist in the design, planning and delivery of global enterprise projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Your profile:

  • Experience in network engineering, design and support roles
  • CCNP Routing and Switching certified or equivalent experience
  • Cisco Wireless, Security and Voice certifications desirable
  • Vendor management of wide area network and telecommunication providers
  • Experience of deploying and managing Riverbed WAN optimization solutions
  • Experience of cloud interconnect and cloud networking technologies
  • Deep understanding and experience in designing, configuring, installing and supporting Cisco routers, switches, wireless LAN controllers, wireless access points, firewalls and voice technologies
  • Project Team Lead experience
  • Functional knowledge of server technologies
  • Proven experience identifying solutions for complex problems in enterprise environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong desire to operate as a self-starter and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Superb speaking, writing and influencing skills are required as the opportunity to present verbally or in written form to IT and business leadership is frequent
  • Proven ability to identify and develop clear and understandable network infrastructure strategic views from high-level business objectives and technology constraints
  • Strong technical knowledge and confidence in communicating with highly technical audiences
  • Proven ability to pull a diverse group of individuals with different goals together and facilitate productive discussions driving towards results
  • Strong business acumen to quickly learn new business processes and understand how information security needs to support the business in achieving revenue and profit goals
  • Superior communication and collaboration skills, ability to explain complex concepts in plain language and graphics
  • BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 8-10 years relevant experience
