NDT Technical Deputy
Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting our client with the appointment of an NDT Technical Deputy. This role is predominantly an office based role and will suit someone who is seeking to utilise their NDT and operational skills to assist with the management of day to day tasks for the NDT Technical Authority, as well as maintain excellent services to clients across the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, O&G, Bulk storage and distribution and renewables sectors.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within non-destructive testing and currently obtain a PCN level 2 or higher in ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing (eddy current flaw protection desirable). You must have proven experience leading NDT jobs and identifying complex defects, as well as excellent report writing skills.
There is 1 vacancy for this position but the role can be worked from either site based within Teesside, the North west of England or the Humber region.
Responsibilities:
Requirements:
- Ensure that all NDT facilities and equipment comply with relevant specifications by defining purchasing requirements, conducting goods-inwards checks, and setting calibration and control check requirements, as well as verifying their completion.
- Esnure that all NDT personnel are trained, examined, and certified according to the company’s written procedures.
- Develop and approve procedures, technique sheets, and related documentation, such ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure NDT reports meet required standards and provide guidance to personnel to resolve any issues.
- Conduct regular NDT audits, including site observations, test piece audits, and internal audits, to ensure compliance with current requirements.
- Stay informed about changes in industry requirements and assist in implementing necessary updates.
- Support the NDT Technical Authority on technical questions and assist in the decision-making processes related to NDT issues.
- Coordinate with Inspection and Quality personnel to ensure that NDT systems and resources effectively support their needs.
- Assist with site-based NDT/Inspection tasks as needed.
Requirements:
Obtain in-date PCN Level 2 qualification in the following: Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing and Dye Penetrant testing. - Desirable – Eddy Current Flaw Detection PCN Level 2.
- Desirable – Experience with forged and wrought metals.
- Experienced working within an NDT role with experience identifying complex defects (Cracks, abrasions, thinning, pitting and corrosion).
- Highly organised and ability to work within a client facing role.
