Microbiology Shift Manager, Pharmaceutical

Type: Permanent
Location: Runcorn
Hours: Monday - Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm and 3.00pm - 11.00pm
Salary: Negotiable - typically £38,000 - £45,000 plus £4,581 shift allowance (depending on experience) plus Bonus

Our Client, a global - leading Pharmaceutical company is looking to bring in a Microbiology Shift Manager (MSM) who will lead a team of x5 microbiologists; our client offers a fantastic renumeration package, a chance to work at their state of the art facility (good central location) and career progression.

About the Role:

As a Microbiology Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Recruiting, organising, and managing laboratory personnel
• Ensuring monitoring processes are accurate, up to date, and adhered to
• Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Overseeing sample collection and processing to maintain cleanroom controls
• Reporting any out-of-limit (OOL) or out-of-specification (OOS) results immediately
• Leading and assisting in investigations for deviations and environmental excursions
• Coordinating laboratory activities, including:
• Growth promotion testing
• Environmental monitoring
• Sample reconciliation and investigations
• Identifying isolates up to species level
• Managing and mentoring the team in sterility assurance and best practices
• Ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies

About You:

To excel in this role, you should have:

• A degree in a relevant scientific discipline
• Extensive knowledge of GMP in a microbiology laboratory
• Proven leadership experience
• Strong communication skills to collaborate across teams
• Experience in writing SOPs
