Metrology Technician

Main missions and results

• Support Laboratory Manager/Lead and report on key measures. 

• Perform measurements using CMM machines/Portable Scanning Arm. 

• Write/modify CMM/Scanning Arm programs from information packs including part passports, drawings and cad data as required. • Perform measurements using traditional measurement equipment e.g. micrometers, calipers, slips, DTIs etc. 

• Perform/participate in Gauge R&R Studies. 

• Perform capability studies. 

• Perform physical testing using a variety of test equipment. 

• Analyse data using statistical techniques. 

• Prepare inspection reports. 

• Use problem solving techniques to assist in internal & external quality concerns – using multifunctional team support. 

• Working knowledge of quality technician role in all areas of the business. 

• Support customer sites as required. 

• Assistance in the control and maintenance of measuring/testing equipment and gauges. 

• Assistance in the control and maintenance of CMM programs in line with customer requirements. 

• Perform annual validation in line with schedule.


Preferred skills and experience

Essential 

• Metrology experience. 

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings / CAD models. 

• Ability to work unsupervised, using your own initiative to achieve objectives. 

• Ability to make informed decisions based on data and risk evaluation. 

• Ability to work as part of a team. 

• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels. 

• Good PC skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Desirable 

• Previous experience of using LK Camio software to operate CMM. 

• Ability to write/modify CMM programs using LK Camio software. 

• Ability to write/modify Portable Arm programs using PC-DMIS.

• Ability to review data and generate informative reports.
