Medications Services & Operations Lead

Location: Multisite – East Cambridgeshire

Hours: Monday – Friday 37 hours a week (flexibility on start and finish times)

Salary: up to £55,000 per annum depending on experience

Duration: Permanent

Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays (increases with long period of service), enhanced sick pay, enhanced parental pay and pension contribution (21.6%)

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior role with a growing GP practice group serving over 40,000 patients across East Cambridgeshire.

Who are we?

Job Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of dispensary teams across 3 GP practices

  • Lead, mentor, and support over 40 staff including dispensary managers, medicines technicians, and procurement teams

  • Develop and implement integrated workflows across sites to create a seamless service for patients

  • Drive compliance with MHRA, GPhC, and NHS regulations, including controlled drugs governance

  • Optimise stock control, procurement, and supply chain processes to ensure cost-effective practices

  • Work with finance teams to monitor budgets, produce financial reports, and drive improvements in dispensary profitability

  • Use data analysis (Excel, ePACT2, clinical systems) to monitor prescribing trends and support evidence-based decisions

  • Champion the adoption of technology to streamline operations and reporting.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS commissioners, local pharmacies, and pharmaceutical suppliers

  • Support organisational strategy and cultural change initiatives as part of the senior operations team

    What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience managing dispensary services or multi-site healthcare operations

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and reporting

  • Confident using data and systems to inform operational decisions

  • A collaborative leader who inspires and develops high-performing teams

  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills

  • Flexible and resilient, with the ability to travel regularly between sites

  • Full UK Driving Licence and your own transport

    Desirable Skills – NOT ESSENTIAL:

  • Background in primary care or GP practice management

  • Knowledge of NHS systems such as SystmOne, ePACT2, or EPS

  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Pharmacy Technician or Dispenser)
