About AnthroTek

Anthrotek is a fast-growing start-up developing revolutionary artificial skin, hyper-realistic organs, faces and body parts for fields ranging from medical to next-gen robotics, and the Hollywood special effects industry. We blend cutting-edge material science with artistic precision and the latest 3D modelling, AI and 3D printing technologies. We are now looking for a versatile mechanical engineer to complement our team of passionate scientists and artists.


The Role

As our Mechanical/3D Printing Engineer, you’ll own our 3D printer suite, push soft-material printing to new limits, lead the testing and development of artificial skin and contribute to the project management excellence of the company.


What You’ll Do

  • Own our suite of SLA and FDM 3D printers including management, troubleshooting, maintenance.
  • Innovate soft-material prints: fine-tune printer settings and material mixes for soft material printing integration.
  • Design tests: develop tensile, compression, and other mechanical and visual tests to validate and further develop our new artificial skin models.
  • Participate in start to end project management, including resource management, sourcing, customer interaction, drafting updates and product validation.
  • Prototype development: design CAD mechanical components to improve our anatomical replicas; iterate to nail realism.
  • Shape our lab culture: help set workshop best practices, mentor interns, and manage supplies.



What You’ll Bring

Must-Haves


  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical, Materials or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 2+ years operating/troubleshooting 3D printers,and a good knowledge of slicer software (e.g. Cura).
  • Understanding of rubber materials (silicone, TPU) and their mechanical characterisation.
  • Experience of managing projects independently and autonomously.


Nice-to-Haves


  • Solid CAD skills (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Proven experience in project management and project management softwares
  • Background in medical simulation, SFX mask-making, or custom robotics.

Salary range:

  • Entry-Level / Graduate (0–2 years) £27,000 – £32,000 per year
  • Early Career (2–5 years) £30,000 – £40,000 per year
