Key roles and responsibilities:Conduct corrective and preventative mechanical maintenance activities, particularly for small-scale reactor systems and pharmaceutical/lab-based equipment, originating from work generated by (but not exclusively to) the Computer Maintenance Management System. Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide effective problem-solving solutions to minimise downtime. Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed on time and adhere to good engineering practices. Accurately document all maintenance activities to GxP standards, both in paper-based records and the Computer Maintenance Management System, ensuring accurate reporting. Proactively identify opportunities to improve maintenance plans and work with the Engineering Workshop Supervisor to ensure they remain relevant, technically correct, and compliant. Perform small-scale project work as required, including the design, installation, and commissioning of minor systems (new or altered). Maintain sufficient stock of materials, equipment, and parts required for maintenance tasks, identifying low stocks for replenishment. Collaborate with all affected individuals to minimise disruption during work and provide regular updates on progress and completion targets. Ensure all work is carried out to the highest safety standards and report potential hazards or risks promptly.Requirements:Essential: A formal mechanical qualification. Post-qualification experience working as a mechanical technician in a similar environment, ideally within GMP or pharmaceutical settings. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience with a range of equipment, including: Small-scale glass-lined reactor/condenser systems, Tempered heating packages, Vacuum pumps, BMS-monitored HVAC systems, Agitator/gearbox assemblies Good documentation and record-keeping skills with the ability to produce succinct reports. Excellent interpersonal skills, customer-focused, and effective communication with end-users. Commitment to safety and adherence to good engineering practices. Proactive, helpful, and responsive with a team-oriented mindset. Desirable: A formal qualification in a second discipline (e.g., electrical).
